Delaunay fut chargé de peindre Sainte Geneviève rend le calme aux Parisiens à l'approche d'Attila et Laurens réalisa Les derniers instants de sainte Geneviève, devenue vieille et vénérée du peuple, conseillère des rois, consolatrice des malheureux et l'honneur de la patrie. On y voit sainte Geneviève sur son lit de mort avec dans la partie haute une large frise à laquelle notre esquisse semble se rattacher. En effet, l'un des soldats au premier plan à droite porte le même vêtement et adopte exactement la même attitude.
