Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall with nicks, marks, and scratches consistent with age and use. The ebonized decoration and giltwood with some scattered chips, losses to carving and gilt surfaces revealing gesso, bole and bare wood in areas as to be expected with age. Some minor separation at the joins, for example where the acanthus decoration meets the seat rail at the head. The center cross strut on the underside replaced. With typical minor signs of old wood worm, now inactive. The upholstery presents well with some minor fraying and light scattered discoloration, with some lifting to the border at edges.
