An oval box with near identical scenes on the exterior and interior is illustrated by Barbara Beaucamp-Markowsky, Boîtes en Porcelaine, des manufactures européennes au 18e siècle, Fribourg, 1985, p. 91, no. 61, as circa 1723-1724 with decoration of circa 1730-1740. At the time the box was on loan to the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, but it was subsequently discovered to be 19th century, and was sold from the Helmut Joseph Collection by Bonhams, London, on 5 July 2011, lot 71 as 19th century.
