The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
121⁄2 in. (32 cm.) high, 141⁄2 in. (37 cm.) wide, 9 in. (23 cm.) deep
In good overall condition. The ormolu with some minor surface scratches, slight casting inconsistencies, light oxidation and rubbing, as to be expected; with a slightly matte appearance; the uppermost palm frond with somewhat more rubbing than the rest of the clock. Scattered areas of light verdigris and some debris to the surface, mainly at recessed areas. As noted in the cataloguing, the movement and dial are replaced circa 1820-1830, the 'MUSSON' signature therefore not contemporaneous with the case; the dial with the expected light scratches and minor chips associated with age and use, mainly around its edge. The glazing over the dial has been reattached, with some glue residue at the interior. Overall good condition, ready to place.
Please note: Christie's does not guarantee the functioning of clock movements, which should be examined by a qualified restorer.
