Kändler’s work report for February 1747 records that a new group of two lovers with Hymen and Cupid was being prepared for modeling: Ein Neues grouppgen Von 4. Füguren Woran Hymen, Cupido, nebst 2. Verliebten Personen befindl. im Modell zer schnitten und Selbiges gehöriger massen zum ausformen befördert, cited by Ulrich Pietsch, Die Arbeitsberichte des Meissener Porzellanmodelleurs, Johann Joachim Kaendler, Leipzig, 2002, p. 117. Compare the unmounted example illustrated in R. Rückert, Meissener Porzellan, Munich, 1966, p. 170 and taf. 216, no. 883, and the example formerly in the Irwin Untermyer collection, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (obj. no. 64.101.54).
