The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The Meissen example-- The interior not examined as the jewel button no longer seems to be functioning. The exterior with some wear to the gilding; some minor surface wear and scratches; a few tiny firing flaws in the making. No chromium was found in the green enamels of the body during XRF testing, but chromium was found on the cover, indicating its decoration is 19th century.
The gilt-metal German example- The cover cracked in pieces and restuck; the top half loose from the bottom (mount no longer attached); wear to the gilding; some surface wear/scratches. The lighter not examined for condition or functionality.
The Samson example- Generally good condition; some light scratches; the metal mount with a glue residue surrounding it.
