The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Good overall presentation. With scattered age and construction cracks, and with general overall marks, nicks, surface scratches, tiny losses and repairs consistent with age and use. As stated in the cataloguing, the table is partially reveneered, including at the top where the marquetry flower-basket is later. Generally, the marquetry and veneers overall with scattered fraying, lifting, and minor cracks with minor areas of losses and signs of infill and restorations. Also as stated in the cataloguing, partially remounted, including the gallery which is later; the veneers with a number of small plugged holes, presumably from previous mounts. The ormolu overall with some minor surface scratches, slight casting inconsistencies, light oxidation and rubbing, as to be expected; the angle mounts and sabots regilt and possibly aftercasts. The leather to the writing surface is later, as is the fitting of the side-drawer, along with the inkwell, sander and pen tray. With later locks stamped 'YALE MADE IN USA'.
