The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Good overall presentation. As stated in the cataloguing, the armoire was executed circa 1765 and later fitted with seven drawers at the interiors; its exterior is later mounted and with later marquetry. With scattered age and construction cracks, and with general overall marks, nicks, surface scratches, tiny losses and repairs consistent with age and use. The back with some later pegs. The veneers with scattered fraying, lifting, and minor cracks with minor areas of losses and signs of infill and restorations. The ormolu with some minor surface scratches, slight casting inconsistencies, light oxidation and rubbing, as to be expected; the upper right chute is broken at its lowest leaf tip, but not unstable. The marble is in good condition and appears to be original; with light scratches throughout and some chips and 'nibbles', mainly along its back edge, consistent with use and handling. Overall structurally sound, nicely fitted, ready to use.
