The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In good overall condition. As stated in the cataloguing, the table has been adapted, and probably was previously with a fixed top and a frieze drawer; one side retaining the keyhole. With scattered age and construction cracks, and with general overall marks, nicks, surface scratches, tiny losses and repairs consistent with age and use. The veneers with scattered fraying, lifting, and minor cracks with minor areas of losses and signs of infill and restorations, mainly at the undertier. The ormolu with some minor surface scratches, slight casting inconsistencies, light oxidation and rubbing, as to be expected; a few of the gadrooned moldings lifting in areas. The marble generally in good condition, with light scratches and scuffs as to be expected; there is a tight crack or a repair to one of the side panels and to the roundel at the undertier, beneath the ormolu sunburst. The silk lining in very good condition; with the expected light wear and a few faint marks mainly near the edges. According to an invoice in the French & Co. archives, the glass pane at the top was replaced in 1960. Overall good condition, ready to place.
