Lot Essay

It has been suggested by M.A.Dupuy, curator of the Louvre Museum, in 1992, that this work is inspired by Portrait of a Man (circa 1510) by Francesco di Cristofano Bigi (called Franciabigio) (1482-1525), in the collection of the Louvre Museum.
We are grateful to Gisèle Ollinger-Zinque for her assistance in cataloguing the present lot.
