The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

As is typical of this type and age of lacquer there is old wear overall consistent with use with some restorations to the lacquer and inlays. The fittings are similarly slightly worn and some of the nail fixings are slightly loose. One of the copper fittings which would support the handle towards the front of the cover is lacking The interior with old wear including dents, scratches and small chips.
