The rectangular copper box with hinged cover and canted corners decorated in gold hiramaki-e [low-relief lacquer] and inlays of mother-of-pearl against black lacquer, with a scene of the Church of St. Jeroen in Noordwijk, underneath is the inscription Noortwyk op zee, surrounded by sprays of cherry blossom, the interior black lacquer
