The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

As can be seen in the illustrations there is some old wear including chips to the lacquer of the edges, revealing the wood beneath. There are small dents and scratches overall and some wear to the pearl shell inlays. There is a large chip to the left of the lockplate and further wear around the lock mechanism. The base of the box has cracks around the edges and one side of the base is slightly loose. The interior is overall in remarkably good condition with some minor wear to the velvet which is slightly loose in places near the edges. Minor wear to the gold decoration on the glass and minor chips to the glass stoppers.
