A Pair of Imari Jugs and Two Imari Condiment Ewers
Edo period (late 17th - early 18th century)
All decorated in iron-red and gilt on underglaze blue; each jug with a roundel containing the letter ‘O’ (oil), ‘S’ (syrup), surrounded by peonies and chrysanthemums issuing from rockwork, the foot with a band of triangle design, the loop handle and the neck with stylised karakusa design, a pinched spout; each condiment ewer depicting two oviform vases containing flower sprays and the cover with flower sprays and a loop finial, one ewer with a roundel containing the letter ‘O’ and the handle and spout modelled as a mythical creature, the other with a cover pierced as a pepper pot
