Two Arita Dishes
Edo period (18th century)
Both decorated in underglaze blue, one dish with scalloped rim, depicting a dog in a landscape, the reverse with karakusa design, circumferential lines around the footring; the other dish with foliate rim, depicting two Dutchmen in a landscape with pine and other trees, the reverse with stylised flower sprays, circumferential lines around the footring, chocolate rim, a Chinese character to the base
15.5cm. and 10.5cm. diam.
