Edo period (late 17th - early 18th century)
The oviform vase with short cylindrical neck, decorated in iron-red, green, aubergine and black enamels, pink wash and gilt on underglaze blue with three shaped panels, each depicting an auspicious long-tailed turtle (minogame) with pine, bamboo and plum, divided by karakusa on a blue ground, the shoulder with three shaped panels with half chrysanthemum flowerheads and foliage, the neck with panels with peony, the domed cover similarly decorated with three panels containing pine, bamboo and plum, the finial modelled as a karashishi [lion dog] on a rock
