Edo period (late 17th century)
Decorated in iron-red, yellow, green, light blue and black enamels, pink wash and gilt on underglaze blue, the interior with a central roundel containing a peony spray, surrounded by a broad band depicting iris and chrysanthemum sprays, each bound with tasselled cords, beneath a band of chrysanthemum and meander design, the exterior with four shaped panels containing prunus sprays, divided by flowers and grasses including pinks and chrysanthemum, above a band of plum branches, a band of scrolling design to the footring, the rim with a band of chrysanthemum and meander design
