The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

As is typical of this type and age of lacquer there is old wear overall consistent with use with some small restorations to the lacquer. As can be seen in the illustration there are some small losses of inlay in places in particular to the cover and there is wear to the lacquer including small dents, chips, scratches and rubbing to lacquer. The interior has similar wear with slight cracks in particular around the edges. The base with also similar wear overall and the surface of edges slightly lifting. One hinge restored, the lockplate and key missing.
