Lot Essay

For an example with a similar rim design with books, see:
Christiaan J.A. Jorg, Fine and Curious, Japanese Export Porcelain in Dutch Collections, (Amsterdam, 2003), p.106-107, no. 110. (Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam)
The author explains that this rim design with book panels is unusual and suggests that it may have derived from textile designs.
