Two Imari Models of Bijin [Beauties]
Edo period (early 18th century)
The first, a figure standing and wearing an elaborate kimono, her right hand holding the outer garment, her hair tied back with a comb, decorated in iron-red, green, aubergine and black enamels and gilt on underglaze blue, her kimono with various flowers including cherry, chrysanthemum and peony

The second, a hanaike [flower vase] modelled as a bijin standing and wearing an elaborate kimono, holding a kasa [traditional hat], her hair tied back with a comb, with an opening behind the kasa, decorated in iron-red, green and dark brown enamels, pink wash and gilt on underglaze blue, her kimono and kasa decorated with various flowers including cherry, chrysanthemum and peony amongst clouds and streams
