The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Inkwell – there is some wear consistent with age and use including rubbing to gilt, small dents and chips in particular around the edges and corners. The hinge is in good order.
The writing box - As can be seen in the illustration there is some old wear including minor inlay losses, cracks, small dents and chips in places and some associated repairs, rubbing to silvering of the metal fittings. The front edge of the cover with horizontal crack that has been restored. The part of side edge of the cover lacking. The interior has similar wear, chips and repairs with a crack along the back edge. The handle possibly reattached.
Another box - As can be seen in the illustration there is some old wear consistent with age and use, including very minor inlay losses, small dents and chips in particular around the edges and corners, and rubbing to gilt of the metal fitting. The base has a few cracks. The hinge probably later replacement. The key and the internal metal fitting of the lock missing.
