Meiji period (late 19th century), signed Tofu Uguisudani Hoen kinsen (carved by Hoen [Okawa Teikan; 1828-1898] in Uguisudani, Tokyo)
The tapering ovoid form cast, hammerd, chiseled and inlaid in gold, copper and shakudo with the god of thunder (Raijin) playing his thunder drums in swirling storm clouds, his hair and loin cloth of tiger skin finely carved in kebori; signature on a gold tablet mounted on base
