A Bronze Ewer with a Dragon Handle
Meiji period (late 19th century)
Of archaic form and cast in high and low relief with two opposing panels depicting a kirin, the reverse with karashishi [lion dog] and a ho-o bird, the body chiselled and engraved with an archaic-style geometric pattern, the applied handle similarly decorated, around which a dragon is coiled and peering over the rim, the neckrim with large lappets containing minogame [auspicious long-tailed turtle]
