A Hirado Mizusashi [Water Jar] and Cover
Edo - Meiji period (19th century)
Oviform, decorated in underglaze blue with a garden scene depicting a karako [Chinese child] and a sage with books on a table looking back at two cranes beneath a flowering plum tree, another karako on the right feeding them, two cranes in flight and another to the left of the scene, the foot with the band of stylised petals above two lines, the cover with plum blossom, the finial shaped as a karashishi [lion dog]
