A Hirado Vase with a Frog and Cicada
Meiji period (late 19th century)
Of tall cylindrical form with rounded shoulder and everted neck, an applied cicada and frog in high relief with their details realistically rendered, the surface of the vase with spatula marks giving the impression of tree bark, covered in a slightly greyish white glaze
