A Pair of Silver Vases with Herons
Sealed Miyamoto kinsei, one signed Bokusui ju and another Toshiyuki, Meiji period (early 20th century)
The high-shouldered ovoid vases cast in low relief, chiselled and patinated in gilt and copper, one with two herons in water by the shore with reeds and flowers, the other with two herons in flight over reeds and flowers, Imperial sixteen-petal gilt-silver chrysanthemum crests applied to the necks, stamped marks jungin [pure silver] and Miyamoto kinsei to each base

Each vase engraved with the inscription 'Presented to R. Gordon - Smith by His Imperial Majesty Yoshihito. The Emperor of Japan. December 6th 1912.'
Each 30.3cm. high
