Two Bronze Vases
Each with Nogawa mark, Meiji period (late 19th century)
The larger vase carved, incised and inlaid in high and low relief in gold, silver, copper, shakudo and gilt with a central band depicting a dragon coiled around the vase amongst waives and clouds, flowers and scrolling tendrils to the shoulder and ho-o birds in roundels to the lower body

The smaller vase carved, incised and inlaid in high and low relief in gold, silver and shakudo with a deep reddish-brown patination and a central band depicting peony and prunus with two flying butterflies, flowers and scrolling tendrils to the shoulder and grapevine to the lower body, inlaid gold mark to the base
21cm. high and 16.5cm. high
