Signed Yoshimitsu, Meiji period (late 19th century)
Engraved and decorated in gilt, the archer preparing to shoot an arrow at his target, supporting himself on one knee as the other one is fully outstretched, wearing a wakizashi [short sword] tucked into his belt, the bow and arrow cast separately, a later leather bow string, the wood base carved with flowers and scrolling foliage
