Three woodblock-printed triptychs comprising:

1. Picture of Loyal Gaku-o (Seichu Gaku-o zuden), published by Ibaya Senzaburo, 1864
2. Winter (Fuyu), from the series Four Seasons of Genji (Genji shiki no uchi), signed Fusatane ga (on right and left sheets), Oju Fusatane ga (on center sheet), published by Kagaya Kichiemon (Kichibei), 1861, 6th month

Lot Essay

The dramatic design of the first triptych depicts the famous Chinese general Gaku-o (Chinese: Yue Fei (1103-1141)), standing, a large tattoo to his back, surrounded by troops on a river bank.
