    Kuniyoshi designed a number of prints on this theme of the hero Taira Tomomori (1152-82), on the edge of defeat at the battle of Dannoura (25th April 1185). He commits suicide by throwing himself into the sea tied to a large anchor. Shown here about to leap to his death from a rocky outcrop, his retainer Sagami Goro on his left and his mistress Tenji no tsubone on his right.
