Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In fairly good decorative country house condition overall. With the inevitable knocks, marks, losses, scratches and shrinkage cracks, consistent with age and use. The top with some heavy pitting, staining and marks, which are visible in the catalogue image. Most noticaably a series of ring marks and a large abstract black stain. The top with shrinkage splits. The block to support later. The bearers have been replaced. The underside of top historically stained. Some re-screwing of the slats and the plinth. The banjo catch replaced. The tripartite base reinforced with metal bars, one of which has broken historically. The legs and feet with scuffing and wear. Structurally secure but would benefit from some sympathetic restoration.
