The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In overall fairly good condition. With the inevitable knocks, marks, losses, scratches and shrinkage cracks, consistent with age and use. As stated re-gilt - the present gilding attractive overall, rubbed revealing red bole layers and would benefit from a sympathetic clean. The frame with some shrinkage along the lines of construction and some cracking with apparent repairs. Minor chipped losses to the edges of the frame overall revealing white gesso and bare timber. The back formerly with paper backing and the backboard with pasted shrinkage repairs. The backboards replaced. The plate with some scattered losses to silvering and tarnishing, but most notably to the bottom two quadrants. Otherwise structurally secure and ready to hang.
