Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The pile has uneven wear and ranges from areas of full pile, to areas below the level of the knot collar revealing the single-wefted structure beneath. The lowest areas are in the lower half of the field in three horizontal bands. There is a natural corrosion to the black which is in lower pile at times revealing the structure. The colour palette is rich and varied and the colours retain a good level of saturation overall but may benefit from a professional surface clean. There are several small reweaves, mainly within the borders and guard stripes, the largest in the right hand outer guard stripe at the lower end of the carpet measuring approx.. 11 x 6cm. The reweaves are in slightly higher pile and are more muted in tone than the original. The ends are original and complete with short fringes and the selvages are mostly secure but are lacking in scattered spots.
