Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In overall fairly good condition. With the inevitable knocks, marks, losses, scratches and shrinkage cracks, consistent with age and use. As stated with traces of original blue or grey painted decoration throughout, particularly to the crevices and flat surfaces. Some shrinkage to the lines of construction throughout - particularly to the splat and arms. The seat replaced. The seat very comfortable and well sprung. Front right ear replaced to leg. The back legs with spliced repairs. Evidence of historic, but apparently inactive, woodworm to the rails. Structurally secure and ready to use.
