Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In fairly good country house condition. With the inevitable knocks, marks, losses, scratches and shrinkage cracks, consistent with age and use. Each chair with batton-carrying hole. As stated previously gilded - the current painted decoration rubbed and with chipped losses revelaing white gesso and gilding beneath. The joints slightly loose overall and would benefit from securing. One chair with canvas repairs to the rails. One with large repair to back left leg. Metal plate to rail of one to secure. The caning sound to both. Both with evidence of historic but apparently inactive woodworm to the rails. Highly decorative and structurally secure.
