The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
A BLUE STRIPED DHURRIE 20TH CENTURY 530cm. x 382cm. The flat woven surface is stable. There are occasional very minor repairs including a short repaired split to one end measuring approx.. 10cm. in length. The blue remains mostly in good condition on one side, however, there is a colour fade in three narrow vertical stripes the length of the dhurrie, and in a square shaped area at one end measuring approx.. 70 x 70cm. One vertical half of the dhurrie i has a lighter more graduated colour fade, mainly affecting the centre. There are scattered surface marks and several stains that are a faint yellow tone, the largest measuring approx.. 50cm. in diameter to one side of the centre of the dhurrie and one measuring approx.. 30cm. in diameter to the other side of the centre. These are more notable on the other side. The other side has a strong uneven colour fade which ranges from a light grey ground with darker grey stripes to areas where the stripes remain more blue in tone. This side also has an overall surface dirt. The dhurrie would benefit from a professional surface clean. The sides are secure and each end is secure with a short fringe.
A PURPLE STRIPED DHURRIE 20TH CENTURY 419cm. x 368cm. The flatwoven surface is stable. There are occasional small areas of repair, the most notable is to the centre of the dhurrie measuring approx.. 5 x 3cm. and is a dark red colour. There is a strong uneven colour fade to one side relating to previous furniture placement. The colours vary from a light beige with light grey-purple stripes at each end, to two rectangular blocks on each side of the dhurrie each measuring approx.. 210 x 75cm. with a light terracotta orange and lavender purple stripes. The area between these two blocks has a light orange ground. The other side has a more minor colour fade and the ground colour ranges from a light terracotta orange at the centre of the dhurrie to a lighter orange towards each end. There are scattered small stains and surface marks across the dhurrie which are more notable on the faded side. The largest stain is to one side of the dark red repair and measures approx.. 17cm. in diameter. The dhurrie would benefit from a professional surface clean. The sides are secure and each end is secure with a short fringe.
