Lot Essay

Gio Caroli the company was founded in Valenza in 1970 by Carlo Ciarli and Giovanni Ilario. The aesthetic was based on geometric forms and the combination of different metals and contrasting colours and the refinement of the design was the most important factor rather than the value of the component materials. During the mid-1970s the company opened more premises in various Italian cities in partnership with important contemporary jewellers including Gerado Veronesi in Bologna and Dario Fasano in Turin.
