拍品專文

Discovered in 1980 by Jack Bray, the “Golden Aussie” is one of the most impressive examples of Australian gold ever found. Located around 25km south east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, the Feysville mine, where the “Golden Aussie” was found, was first established in 1896 and the townsite a year later; it is located in Australia’s premier gold belt. Gold deposits throughout the belt are centred on the Boulder Lefroy fault, a major structural corridor which controls regional uplift and folding of mafic-ultramafic rocks and volcano-sediments.
Feysville mine is known for producing exceptionally high grade gold, the “Golden Aussie”, weighing over 8kg, is therefore not just one of the largest gold nuggets ever found in Australia, but also one of the finest.
