The company was founded in 1868 by a couple of Russian immigrants, Jacob Dreicer and his wife Gittel. Initially, Jacob sold pocket knives, but he gradually expanded into jewellery and gemstones.

From the earliest days, they sought to set themselves apart by creating jewellery of the finest quality, using exquisite materials, the best craftsmen, and the latest techniques. Their designs were heavily influenced by traditional European styles, with a clear nod to Parisian fashion trends. Catering to New York’s elite, they were meticulous in ensuring that quality remained at the heart of everything they produced.

By prioritizing excellence and investing in both expertise and technology, the Dreicers built a prosperous and highly regarded business, amassing considerable wealth. From 1910 to the mid-1920s, their platinum jewellery and lavish pearl necklaces positioned them as strong competitors to Cartier, New York and the leading Parisian jewellery houses.

Tragically, this success was cut short by the early death of their son, Michael, in 1921, followed by Jacob’s death less than three weeks later. The company, deeply affected by these losses, closed in 1927, offering its stock at significantly reduced prices. It is said that the remaining inventory was sold to Cartier for $2.5 million.
