Originally designed by Aldo Cipullo for Cartier in 1969 as a gift for a loved one, Cartier's love bracelets have remained an iconic staple for the house for 50 years. Requiring a screwdriver to get on and off, they changed the way people wore fine jewelry. Cartier ingeniously gifted love bracelets to some of the world's most iconic couples including Ali McGraw and Steve McQueen, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor among others. This particular bracelet is an early example and is an icon of design that Christie's is always pleased to offer at auction.
