The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
- Overall condition good. Necklace has likely been adapted in the past, jump ring clasp unlikely to be original, possibly a combination of late 19th century cushion-shaped diamonds with the later (early 20th century) bell flower links. Reverse with screw fittings to allow it to be worn as a tiara/circlet - however frame now deficient
- Diamonds: the 5 principal stones were unmounted and assessed to be:
Central: 10.28 carats, K colour, VS2 clarity, faint fluorescence, very minor abrasions along girdle
1st Left: 5.48 carats, K colour, SI2 clarity, no fluorescence, surface reaching inclusion
2nd Left: 4.47 carats, K colour, I1 clarity, no fluorescence, 2 chips to girdle, surface reaching inclusion
1st Right: 5.09 carats, K colour, I1 clarity, faint fluorescence, natural/nick to girdle and pavilion facet
2nd Right: 5.88 carats, K colour, SI1 clarity, no fluorescence, two elongated naturals along the girdle
Remaining old cushion-shaped diamonds weighing approximately from 3.80 - 0.90 carats, assessed to be K colour, the majority SI clarity (one is VS and one is I1 - please refer to the department for further information). Total approximate diamond weight of the necklace 90.00-100.00 carats
