The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- Overall conditions good. Minor signs of wear, commensurate with age. Single pin fitting (possibly later), with safety catch.
- Metal unsigned.
- Ruby: with typical natural inclusions, small nicks, orangy red.
- Coloured sapphires: with typical natural inclusions, some surface reaching, some scratches, nicks and chips, primarily to the pavilion facets.
