The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Precious Stones of California has fraying at edges of cover and spine, with fading and scuffing to spine. Foxing and discoloration to inside front cover with an adhered reference label from Tiffany & Co. Designing and Engraving Department. Cracking at binding and browning at page edges.
The Curious Lore of Precious Stones has split at binding of inside front cover. Minor scuffing to cover with some loss to painted title on spine. Some discoloration to page edges commensurate with age.
Ivory and the Elephant has darkening and rubbing of front cover and damage to spine, perhaps where reference number was adhered. Adhered library reference on inside cover from the "A Library on Gems" from the collection of John Osborne Gill. Title page hole punched "public library," with blank paper adhered behind to fill holes, partially obscuring copyright information. Some paper loss on this page, as well, perhaps from something adhesive removed. Discoloration and creasing to title page corner as a result. Further hole punches intermittently throughout book pages with kraft paper adhered over to obscure. Some accompanying discoloration on facing pages as a result. Bottom corner of inlaid foldout maps have been cut out with no impact to the maps or their keys. "Joe Gill" written in black permanent marker on topmost inside back cover.
The Book of the Pearl has discoloration commensurate with age and minor paint loss to ornamental design. Fraying and discolored page edges commensurate with age.
Drawing has pencil marks and some staining, with residual adhesive on the back.
Overall condition: fair to good. Expected though noted signs of wear and age.
