Lot Essay

In 1971, the Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, commemorated 2,500 years of the Persian Empire. The celebration, held in Persepolis, was attended by countless prestigious guests. Weeks later, another party was held nearby to benefit the established ‘Bal des petits lits blancs’ for children who had been suffering from tuberculosis. This pendant was presented to select guests of the charitable ball.
