Consigned by a private European collector, the present Patek Philippe chronograph represents a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire a beautiful reference 1463 in yellow gold.

In 1940, four years into the production of the reference 130, Patek Philippe & Co. started manufacturing the reference 1463, its first water resistant chronograph. A stronger wristwatch made to match current market demand due to sportive usage and the context of World War II, the chronograph will be in production until around 1967.

With a magnificent design, the timepiece featured a very high quality water resistant case made by Taubert, with a screw back as well as a humidity-proof metal cover protecting the movement. With an evolution divided into three, the present timepiece is part of the third series, and was part of the last pieces produced, being sold in 1967. Featuring a highly attractive dial design, it is simpler than previous series and the wristwatch features a flatter case band and lug profile. As for other Patek Philippe chronographs produced since 1936, the reference 1463 featured the calibre 13 130 CC with Valjoux ébauche finished in Patek Philippe’s workshops.

Il movimento è risultato essere funzionante al tempo della catalogazione, il cronografo è funzionante, si raccomanda comunque una service dell’orologio per la futura manutenzione dell’orologio. L’orologio da polso è molto bello, con un quadrante ben conservato, mostra segni del tempo sul bordo sinistro del quadrante verso il marchio 400.
Leggeri segni presenti e perdita di materiale nella scala a destra del quadrante, ai segni 130 e 65.
In generale, il quadrante è molto bello e si presenta molto bene. La cassa è ben conservata, lucidata ad un certo punto ma presenta i pulsanti corretti e un marchio nitido sulla cassa tra le anse alle ore 6. La patina di polvere è ancora presente, in linea con il periodo di manifattura dell’orologio. L’interno del fondello è pulito e presenta una leggera incisione che riporta “VACCUM”.

The movement is ticking at the time of cataloguing, the chronograph is working, however a service may be beneficial in the future to be well preserved. The wristwatch is very attractive, with a well preserved dial, showing signs wear at the left edge of the dial towards the 400 mark. Discreet marks in places and loss of matter to the scale of the right sub dial, 130 and 65 mark. Overall, the dial is highly attractive and presents very well. The case is well preserved, polished during its lifetime but featuring the correct pushers and a crisp hallmark to the case between the lugs at 6 o’clock. The dust cover is still present, corresponding to the period of manufacture. The inside of the case back is clean, displaying a discreet engraving “VACCUM”.
