- Overall condition: good. Shows normal signs of wear, with minor abrasions throughout gold and silver, severe stains of oxidation on gold and on coins. Fitted with a concealed and secured clasp with a security catch.
The chocker consists of a succession of 19 ancient Greek coins minted in colonies in Italy, called Oboles. Minting period: - 380 BC / - 280 BC. These include: - A Metaponte obola from Lucania, Obverse titulation: MET. Obverse description: Wheat ear in high relief with five grains per row. Incuse on reverse. - Five obols from Lucania, city of Thurium, Obverse: Athena's laurelled head on right, wearing an Attic-type triple aigrette helmet adorned with a laurel wreath on 2/4 Reverse: Charging bull on right. - Thirteen Greek obols from Lucania, unidentified workshop, said to glorify Hercules, possibly Paestum, Heraclea iconography. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena, right. Heracles fighting the Lion of Nemea looking to the sinister.
