Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In fair country house condition overall. The set is composed of two pairs with minor differences. With extensive losses, rubbing, chipping, scratches and shrinkage cracks, consistent with age and use. The gilding dark and clumpy in appearance, with some regilding in places and evidence of gold paint application also. Rubbing and chipped losses to gilding reveraling bole and gesso layers beneath. The mirrored backs with foxing and losses to silvering overall, several panels not sitting flush and would benefit from securing. Some breaks and repairs to the branches and applied carving overall. Overall secure and ready to hang but would benefit from some minor restoration.
The Electrical components to two appear to be complete but must be reconditioned prior to use, regardless of whether the lot is shown lit or in working condition in the catalogue. We strongly advise that the item is reconditioned by an appropriately qualified electrician prior to any intended use.
