6 volumes, octavo (206 x 135mm). Numerous maps and charts. Full red morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, gilt spines and edges.

Winston Churchill (authorial inscriptions in all vols, vols III and IV are 'inscribed for Audrey') – 'S.B.' (Christmas gifts lettered in gilt on front turn-ins, excepting vol. II) – Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (bookplates).
