Il s'agit de la seule impression connue du premier état. Reed & Shapiro ont pu retrouver deux impressions du deuxième état, toutes deux conservées dans des collections publiques, mais aucun exemple des troisième, quatrième et cinquième états cités par Delteil.

This etching is one of the earliest made by Degas, created in 1856. This is the only known impression of the first state. Reed & Shapiro were able to trace two impressions of the second state, both of which are in public collections, but no examples of the third, fourth and fifth states cited by Delteil.
