Lot Essay

According to Professor Alicia Haber, this artwork is part of a series known as The Blind Leading the Blind, paying tribute to Breughel. Painted in Israel, it captures a scene from a Tel Aviv street during José Gurvich's first trip to the country while residing in the kibbutz Ramot Menashe. The series comprises of only two or three paintings. While the current version includes Hebrew signs, the other variations of this artwork are portrayed in different colors and lack the presence of any Hebrew signage.
